Group Counseling provides an opportunity to increase self-awareness and practice skills in a setting with others to help create a sense of normalization and safety. In a group, sometimes growth can occur faster because of the normalization factor, seeing parts of oneself in someone else, being able to laugh at oneself instead of criticize , feel supported instead of all alone.
Groups usually are closed ended meaning they run for a determined amount of weeks and have a predetermined amount of people. For example, a children’s ADHD group might have fewer group members compared to an adult grief and loss support group.
Check our calendar to see what groups are scheduled to start. E-mail the counselor on the calendar, to see if there is availability. If you notice there is a group currently running in which you are interested, feel free to e-mail the counselor listed on the calendar and inquire whether they plan to facilitate another group in the future.
If you know of a specific group our community could benefit from, we would appreciate hearing from you, click here to submit your idea. Thank you!!
